Understanding Learning Disability
A specific learning disability is an unexpected difficulty with reading, writing or mathematics in a child with average or above-average intelligence. It has a neurological basis and does not reflect effort or intelligence.
We assess academic skills alongside phonological processing, memory and processing speed, then deliver structured remediation and help families obtain school accommodations.
Signs to look for
- Reading far below class level
- Persistent spelling errors and reversals
- Slow, effortful, illegible writing
- Difficulty memorising tables and number facts
- Strong oral answers but poor written work
- Avoids reading aloud and homework
