Conditions we treat
Stammering (Stuttering)
Smoother speech and confidence, with very high success rates in early years.
Understanding Stammering (Stuttering)
Stammering typically begins between two and five years. Many children recover naturally, but persistence beyond 6–12 months, family history, or any sign of struggle or avoidance means therapy should start without delay.
The Lidcombe Programme for young children and fluency-shaping plus modification techniques for older children are our core approaches.
Signs to look for
- Repeating sounds, syllables or words
- Prolonging sounds
- Silent blocks with visible effort
- Facial tension or body movements while speaking
- Avoiding words, people or speaking situations
- Frustration or embarrassment about talking
