Understanding Voice Disorders
Hoarseness lasting more than two weeks in a child should always be examined by an ENT specialist. Vocal nodules caused by chronic shouting are the most common finding, and behavioural voice therapy is the first-line treatment.
Therapy changes how the voice is produced and used, allowing tissue to heal and preventing recurrence.
